Silly Rat Hunt – Rat Catcher Job for RedM (VORP / RSGCore) 🐀🪤

📌 Description

Silly Rat Hunt gives players a rat catcher job built around traps, cheese bait, and cash rewards. Talk to the quest giver, take an assignment, place your cage, add cheese, and wait for the rats. Collect the catch and return to sell it.

The supplied VORP / RSGCore bridge handles usable items, inventory actions, notifications, and payouts. German / English language packs cover prompts and messages. NPCs, models, timings, trap limits, and rewards are configurable.

✨ Features

  • 🧑 Job NPCs with configurable models, names, and locations.
  • 🪤 Usable trap item places a cage in front of the player.
  • 🧀 Cheese bait starts the catch timer when used near your own empty trap.
  • 🐀 Visible rats in the cage — 1 rat after 3–5 seconds by default.
  • 🎒 [E] collection turns the catch into a dead-rat inventory item.
  • 💵 [G] sale at a job NPC — $3.00 per rat by default, one rat per sale.
  • 🔢 3 active traps per player and a 180-second placement cooldown.
  • 📏 20 m minimum placement distance from job NPCs.
  • ⏱️ 15-minute trap lifetime with configurable catch timing and catch count.
  • 🎒 Collection capacity check — a full inventory leaves the catch available in the trap.
  • 🌐 Multi-Framework — VORP or RSGCore, automatically detected or selected in config.
  • 🌍 Multilingual — DE / EN prompts and notifications.
  • 🗄️ Optional automatic item setup — includes the trap, cheese bait, and dead-rat item through oxmysql on supported existing VORP item tables.

🎮 How It Works

  1. Press [Enter] near a job NPC to take the assignment.
  2. Move away from the NPC and use rattenfalle to place a trap.
  3. Use Kase near the empty cage to bait it.
  4. Wait for the configured catch delay.
  5. Press [E] near your caught trap to collect toteratte; the trap is removed.
  6. Return to a job NPC and press [G] to sell one dead rat for cash.

Trap and bait items are consumed. Selling with no active traps ends the current assignment, allowing the player to take another.

🔧 Installation

  1. Place the folder containing fxmanifest.lua in your resources as Silly_RatHunt.

  2. Start vorp_core + vorp_inventory or rsg-core + rsg-inventory before the resource:

    ensure Silly_RatHunt

  3. VORP: optionally start oxmysql first. The included db_setup.lua adds missing rattenfalle, Kase, and toteratte entries to a compatible existing items, vorp_items, or vorp_inventory_items table. Restart the inventory after new entries are created. Without automatic setup, add all three manually; the older items.sql covers the trap and dead rat only.

  4. RSGCore: define all configured items in rsg-core/shared/items.lua using lowercase inventory names. The VORP database installer does not create RSG item definitions.

  5. Enable OneSync and choose the framework, language, NPCs, and item names in config.lua.

🌐 Multi-Framework & Multi-Language

  • VORP: vorp_core + vorp_inventory.
  • RSGCore: rsg-core + rsg-inventory, with ox_lib notifications.
  • Framework selection: Config.Framework = 'auto', 'vorp', or 'rsgcore'. Automatic detection prefers VORP when both cores are running.
  • Language selection: Config.Language = 'DE' or 'EN'; German is the default.
  • Custom wording: German and English prompts/messages are supplied in configlang.lua; individual texts can be overridden through Config.Text.

The RSGCore integration is included and is marked untested in game. The item and payout job loop requires a supported framework and inventory.
