Silly Farming – Batch Planting & Crop Care for RedM (VORP / RSGCore) 🌱🥔

📌 Description

Silly Farming adds a hands-on farming loop to your RedM server. Players use seeds, choose a planting quantity, grow a small field, and care for their crops with fertilizer and water before harvesting.

Each planting action creates its own group, so care applies to that group rather than every nearby crop. Built with a VORP / RSGCore bridge and German / English language packs, with a compact plant menu, work animations, and editable crop definitions.

✨ Features

  • 🌱 Usable seed items with a planting quantity menu.
  • 🔢 Plant up to 10 seeds per batch in two rows.
  • 🥔 Potatoes, sugar cane, and apples configured by default.
  • 🪣 Fertilize and water a planting group — one care item per eligible growing plant.
  • ⏱️ Care speeds up growth — 280 seconds untreated, 140 seconds with either treatment, or 70 seconds with both for the default crops.
  • 🖥️ [Enter] plant menu with crop name, countdown, harvest, fertilizer, and water actions.
  • 🎒 Configurable rewards — 2 crop items per harvested plant by default.
  • 👤 Owner-only care and harvesting enabled by default.
  • 👀 Nearby crop visibility from shared server state, also for later joiners.
  • 🎬 Configurable work animations for all four farming actions.
  • ⚙️ Add your own crops through seed names, models, growth times, and rewards.
  • 🌐 Multi-Framework — VORP or RSGCore, automatically detected or selected in config.
  • 🌍 Multilingual — DE / EN for menus, notifications, and default crop names.
  • 🗄️ Optional automatic item setup — adds missing configured items to a supported existing VORP item table through oxmysql.

🎮 How It Works

  1. Use potatoseed, sugarcaneseed, or Apple_Seed from inventory.
  2. Choose the quantity and click the planting button or press [Enter] in the amount field.
  3. Approach a plant and press [Enter] to open its menu.
  4. Apply fertilizer or water to the eligible plants from that planting group.
  5. Harvest finished plants individually for the configured crop reward.

Care uses the original planting time when recalculating readiness. A late treatment can make a plant ready immediately. Each planting action forms a separate group.

🔧 Installation

  1. Place the folder containing fxmanifest.lua in your resources as Silly_Farming.

  2. Start it after your framework and inventory. For VORP:

    ensure vorp_core
    ensure vorp_inventory
    ensure Silly_Farming

    For RSGCore:

    ensure rsg-core
    ensure rsg-inventory
    ensure Silly_Farming

  3. VORP: optionally start oxmysql before the resource. db_setup.lua adds missing seed, reward, fertilizer, and water items to a compatible existing items, vorp_items, or vorp_inventory_items table. Without this setup, add the items manually. Restart the inventory after new database entries are created so it can load them.

  4. RSGCore: define the configured items in rsg-core/shared/items.lua using the lowercase names required by RSG Inventory. The VORP database installer does not create RSG item definitions.

  5. The resource registers seed and fertilizer use handlers; watering uses the plant menu.

  6. Enable OneSync and set your framework, language, and crop settings in config.lua.

Default configured names: potatoseed, sugarcaneseed, Apple_Seed, potato, sugar, apple, fertilizer, and water. Keep VORP item names aligned with the config.

🌐 Multi-Framework & Multi-Language

  • VORP: vorp_core + vorp_inventory.
  • RSGCore: rsg-core + rsg-inventory, with ox_lib notifications.
  • Framework selection: Config.Framework = 'auto', 'vorp', or 'rsgcore'. Automatic detection prefers VORP when both cores are running.
  • Language selection: Config.Language = 'DE' or 'EN'; German is the default.
  • Custom wording: edit locale entries in configlang.lua or override individual texts through Config.Text. Custom crop Label values take priority over translated crop names.

The RSGCore integration is included and is marked untested in game. Item-based farming requires a supported framework and inventory.

📦 Dependencies

| Dependency | Required | |---|---| | RedM + OneSync | ✅ | | VORP Core or RSGCore | ✅ — one supported framework | | vorp_inventory on VORP / rsg-inventory on RSGCore | ✅ | | ox_lib on RSGCore | Required for notifications | | Configured inventory items | ✅ — automatic VORP setup where available, otherwise manual | | oxmysql | Optional — automatic VORP item setup | | Separate farming database table | No |

⚙️ Highlights from config.lua

  • Config.Crops — seed items, crop labels, models, rewards, and growth durations.
  • Config.Framework / Config.Language — framework and DE / EN language selection.
  • Config.Fertilizer / Config.Water — care item names.
  • Config.MaxBatch — default 10; batches are capped at 10.
  • Config.MaxPlantsPerPlayer — 100 active plants per planting character.
  • Config.OwnerOnly — owner-only interaction by default.
  • Config.UseRadius / Config.StreamRadius — 2 m interaction / 100 m prop display.
  • Four work animation definitions, Config.ItemLabels, and custom wording in Config.Text.

Plants remain after logout. Active plants are held in memory and are cleared by a resource or server restart.
